Europe's top politicians at the "Summit of European Digital Sovereignty 2025"

On November 18, 2025, the EUREF Campus Berlin was the venue for one of the most important political events of the year: the 2025 Digital Summit (Summit for European Digital Sovereignty) hosted by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Public Service. Over 1,000 high-ranking guests from politics, business, science, and civil society gathered at the Gasometer, including 23 ministers from EU member states.

The EUREF Campus Berlin was particularly proud to welcome leading European politicians: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Federal Minister for Digital Affairs Dr. Karsten Wildberger, French Minister for Digital Affairs Anne Le Hénanff, EU Vice-President Henna Virkkunen, French Minister for the Economy Roland Lescure, and numerous top decision-makers from industry and the tech sector.

A major event with the highest security requirements

The scale and significance of the summit were reflected in the extraordinary security measures in place: coordinating units from the police and EU security services for the state guests surrounding the French president secured the entire campus. Barriers, control zones, and mobile command centers characterized the day—a logistical feat that the EUREF Event team handled with the utmost professionalism.

A stage for Europe’s digital future

In his speech, Federal Minister for Digital Affairs Dr. Karsten Wildberger articulated Europe’s ambition:
“This summit sends a clear signal: we Europeans can and want to be among the leaders in key technologies.”

France’s Digital Minister Anne Le Hénanff added:
“Digital sovereignty is not a choice, but a duty. Together, we are creating the conditions for a secure and ambitious digital future for Europe.”

High-profile events across the entire campus

The event made use of almost all locations on the EUREF campus:

A press conference with Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz took place in the Audimax lecture hall – with international media coverage and live broadcast.

Side events in the Reglerhaus and Werkstatt buildings – numerous panels and thematic deep dives with EU delegations, companies, and innovation teams.

Roundtables in the Gasometer Skylounge – exclusive formats high above Berlin with a 360° view, where government representatives could meet confidentially.

A milestone for the EUREF Campus

With the summit, the EUREF Campus once again lived up to its reputation as a place of the future. As a platform for international top-level politics, technological innovation, and sustainable event formats, the campus has impressively demonstrated that this is where the future of Europe is discussed. Due to its location and the fact that the campus is private property, the high security requirements and demands on guests and employees could be fully met.
